Beaconsfield High School is a highly successful, happy and exciting girls selective school situated close to the centre of the beautiful, historic town of Beaconsfield in the south of the county of Buckinghamshire. In recent years the Economics and Business Studies Department has managed various educational changes effectively whilst maintaining very strong examination results. We seek an outstanding candidate to maintain and build upon this record of success.  The Head of Economics and Business Studies will take responsibility for the learning and teaching across the Key Stages.

Assistant ICT Technician

Start date: ASAP

Working hours:  3 hours per day, Wed/Thursdays 10am-1pm (flexible) 39 weeks per year, term time only

Salary: Bucks Pay Range 2.15 £2,860 per annum including 5.1 weeks holiday pay

The school is continually investing in improving its ICT infrastructure as part of an ongoing project to ensure that emerging technology is harnessed to support high quality learning and teaching. 

We’re looking for an individual with a keen interest in ICT hardware, software and networks to work as part of the small team responsible for the management and development of the school ICT infrastructure. 

Key responsibilities are

  • - to act as the first line of contact for all ICT related issues reported by staff and students,  initial diagnostics and resolution or escalation as appropriate
  • - ongoing maintenance of systems and infrastructure
  • - working with staff and students to develop their understanding and knowledge, enabling them to get the best out of the technology

The successful candidate will be qualified to A level or equivalent standard ideally in a technology, mathematical or computing subject and must be physically strong enough to move computer equipment. Previous experience of working in an ICT related environment is not essential and full training will be given where necessary.

Teacher Training places 2018-19

ASTRA SCITT

Applications for 2018 / 19 recruitment are open through UCAS. (www.ucas.com).  

Bursary-led / fee funded places will be available at Beaconsfield High School in Art and Design, Biology, Business Studies, Chemistry, Computer Science, Design Technology, Drama, English, Geography, History, Maths, MFL (French & Spanish), Music, PE, Physics and Religious Studies.  Places will also be offered in a wide range of subjects and phases across the Astra Alliance schools.

The Astra Alliance has been awarded status as a School-Centred Initial Teacher Training (SCITT) provider (see Bucks Examiner article), working with the Institute of Education (UCL) for the PGCE qualification to provide high quality training placements. During the training year, all trainees will have the opportunity to spend time in at least one other of our partnership schools to ensure a contrasting and comprehensive experience. The Alliance has considerable experience of training teachers and recognises and values the enthusiastic contribution that they make to our school communities. Staff at the training schools will share their knowledge and good practice to ensure that trainees are well supported to develop into good and outstanding teachers.

The programme is structured to allow trainees to develop the skills required to teach the subject that they are training in and to develop specific expertise for making a distinctive contribution to practice in their setting.

NMAPS SCITT (Maths and Physics)

We are delighted to be working with The National Maths and Physics School Centred Initial Teacher Training programme (NMAPS), a new DfE initiative designed to give Maths and Physics trainees the best experience during their ITT.  Training will be based in school with bespoke subject specialist training programmes, delivered by outstanding practitioners and in conjunction with national subject associations.   On successful completion of the programme, trainees will be awarded both QTS and PGCE.
