Teacher of PE (0.6)

Required from September 2017

Salary: MPS (inclusive of Fringe Allowance)

Would you like the opportunity to teach in an exceptionally successful PE department? Beaconsfield High School was rated one of the top twenty state schools in the country in relation to our success in school sport in 2016.

We are seeking to appoint a dynamic, creative and ambitious individual to join a strong and vibrant Physical Education department. The post would suit an NQT or an experienced teacher who is seeking part time employment.

The successful candidate will be given the opportunity to teach PE students of all abilities across key stages 3 and 4 in a range of different activities, and potentially examination classes in the future. You need to foster a collaborative approach, be prepared to work as a member of a team, have good inter-personal skills and deliver lessons that will inspire our learners to succeed. You should have an understanding of what makes an outstanding and successful learning environment for students of all abilities. We are seeking to appoint an individual who can provide opportunities in an enthusiastic and enjoyable environment, while offering the opportunities for progress along the pathway to excellence for our more talented students.

The PE curriculum is well supported by an extensive range of extra-curricular activities offered both at lunchtime and after school.  Club activities encourage a large membership irrespective of ability, but from the clubs, students are selected to join squads who have further training sessions to prepare them for inter school competition. We expect to reach National Finals each year in Netball, Gymnastics, Hockey, Swimming, and Dance and regional finals in Table Tennis. Our greatest achievement to date is the success of the Under 16 Netball squad who won the Schools National Championships two years in succession and our Under 18 Netball squad who won silver medal at the National Schools Finals in 2016. More recently, our U16 Hockey team have just finished 6th in the country at outdoor national finals, our U18 Hockey finished 3rd in the indoor national finals and our U18 Netball, U14 and 19 Gymnastics squads are competing at National Finals in just weeks to come.

We are therefore seeking to appoint a candidate that will be willing to participate fully in the programme of extra-curricular activities and essentially one who has experience of coaching netball to a high standard.
