Review: Year 12 visit to Higher Education Fair
By Emily Bench, Marketing Prefect
On Friday 3rd March, Year 12 students from Beaconsfield High School visited the UK University Search Higher Education fair at the Emirates Stadium in London. The fair was a fantastic opportunity for students to learn more about an array of universities across the UK, including Russell Group Universities, modern institutions and a variety of other universities that they may not have previously considered.
Students also gained an insight into alternative opportunities in higher education aside from university. These included apprenticeships, represented by some of the UK’s top employers, enabling the students to acquire extensive information about the numerous different career paths available to them. Alongside this, the students were provided with information about exciting international opportunities including work, internships and volunteering in a range of countries including the USA, Australia and New Zealand.
The day also included optional seminars, where studentsreceived vital information on writing personal statements and Oxbridge applications. These seminars proved to be useful and valuable to the students who, afterwards, felt a deeper understanding of the Oxbridge application process and were encouraged to begin to plan their personal statements.
Overall, the visit to the Higher Education fair was extremely beneficial to the Year 12 students and successful in providing them with information for their future education and opportunities.
This trip was organised by Mrs Williams, Director of Sixth Form, as part of the school's focus on delivering career and higher education information and briefings.
