U16 Hockey Team Win Regional Heats
The U16 outdoor hockey team played in the Regional Heats on the 10 November 2016 (last 16 in the south of England) where the standard of hockey was exceptionally high. They had a tough group with last year’s National Champions Cranleigh being their first game. The team played some outstanding hockey and worked extremely hard to beat Cranleigh 2-0 – the first time BHS have beaten Cranleigh in outdoor hockey. The team then went on to play a good Hampshire side beating them 3-0 and then finished off their day beating St Edwards 7-0. Winning their pool means they advance to the Regional Semi-Finals next week.
The girls were a huge credit to the school both on and off the pitch and we have received many compliments from the organisers, umpires and other staff about how impressed they were with the level of hockey they played and their conduct on and off the pitch. I am extremely proud of them to say the least!. As you can also see from the photo the team wore the Poppy on their shirts which was a great sign of respect and remembrance. The team now plays Eastbourne College on Tuesday 15 November in a Regional Semi-Final – a win would see them qualify for the Regional Finals (last 4 in the South).
