Students ace Junior UK Mathematics Challenge!

Congratulations and well done to all the year 7 and 8 students (almost 100 students), who took part in the Junior UK Mathematics Challenge set by the University of Leeds, on Thursday 27th April.

Of those who took part, an amazing 77 were awarded Gold, Silver and Bronze certificates for high scores, with five students; Aaya Fenn (Highest in school), Becky Saunders (Highest in Year), Kate Burke, Rose Roberts and Rosie Thompson progressing to the Junior Kangaroo (which is to be held on Tuesday 13th June).

A typical question the girls faced in the challenge was:

"I add up all even numbers between 1 and 101. Then from my total, I subtract all odd numbers between 0 and 100. What is the result?"

We look forward to even more success in the Junior Kangaroo and to presenting the certificates.

Well done!

Mr Kanwar, Head of Maths
