School hosts its own 'election'!

Our students may not (mostly) be old enough to vote, but that didn't stop us getting involved in the General Election!

Guided by Head of Politics Mrs Williams, students have been preparing for today by volunteering themselves as MPs for the major parties, represented in an unofficial campaign race. The MPs have studied the party frameworks and manifestos, and prepared well-thought out speeches for the election hustings, which took place on Tuesday.

  • Labour Party: Lizzie Baldwin and Saadia Zahid.
  • Conservative: Erin Waters and Lottie Ludlow
  • Green: Mia Lasocki
  • Liberal Democrats: Isobel Davison, Sreeya Sengupta,  Safah Mohamed Fahmy.

The student body then took to the ballot boxes this morning, casting their votes for students representing Conservatives, Labour, Green and Liberal Democrats. The count is complete and Beaconsfied High School has elected its next Government! See the votes below.

Mrs Williams comments: "The participants were so amazing in their support for this mock election.  Their enthusiasm and passion in the hustings event really helped to stimulate lots of discussion and debate. They were all so well prepared and articulate in their arguments and proved persuasive speakers."
