Handover Council Swears in New Student Leadership Team
By Kavya Sharma, Senior Marketing Prefect
On Thursday 9th February, Year 12 and Year 13 students gathered in the Main Hall at the annual Handover Council, for the ceremonial exchange of the Student Leadership team.
Hosted by former Head Girl Josephine McEvoy, Handover Council presented the change of roles as Y13 students gave speeches of advice, and swapped places with their successors.
The outgoing Prefect team has achieved many of its goals over the past year. These include the creation of a new House system to facilitate the additional 30 students coming into the school every year, as well as an innovative new Prefect system. This new system consists of five strands – Voice, Events, Pastoral, Teaching and Learning, and Spirit – allowing for more Prefect roles and a greater collaboration on key decisions made by the school. The school continues to place huge importance on student voice and leadership, and this new system is one demonstration to the student body of that commitment.
New Head Girl, Hannah Ruby
The incoming Head Girl, Hannah Ruby, and her team intend to make the school even more dynamic. Through the establishment of the revised House system, the team aims to increase the sense of identity students feel. As well as this, the prospect of creating a greater pastoral support system will ensure that students make the most out of their Beaconsfield High School journey, aiding the creation of resilient and passionate women, ready for the world of work.
Good luck to the new team!
