English Schools Athletics Association Cup

On Tuesday 21 June, the Y9 & 10 Cup Athletics Team competed in an A final of the Regional Round of the English Schools Athletics Association Cup.  It was a very hot day and the students competed exceptionally well throughout the competition. In the County Round of the competition the team achieved 340 points and our aim was to get more points in the Regional Round.

All the students performed better than in the first round and we scored a total of 358 points which is a fantastic score. The team finished in 8th place out of the whole of the south region, a remarkable achievement given the strength of the schools they have been up against.

Many of the schools do athletics all year round, have proper athletics training facilities and have coaches for each event. What the girls have achieved is absolutely brilliant and I am extremely proud of them.

All the girls were outstanding and a credit to the school.

ESAA Y9 Y10

On Wednesday 22 June, the Y7 & 8 Cup Athletics Team competed in a B final of the Regional Round of the English Schools Athletics Association Cup.

In contrast to the Y9 & 10 team these girls had a miserable rainy day to compete in which made for a different challenge. In the County Round of the competition the team achieved 312 points and as with the Y9 & 10 team our aim was to get more points in the Regional Round.

The team did fantastically well and absolutely smashed their previous points score by 32 points finishing the Regional Round with a total of 344 points. This meant they finished in 3rd place in their B final which puts them at 15th in the whole of the South Region, a brilliant achievement.
