DoE Gold Practice Expedition
Gold Practice Expedition – Brecon Beacons
Fifteen Year 12 Students undertook a gruelling Gold Practice expedition in varying weather conditions in wild country terrain, carrying a full pack last week. The weather went from full sunshine to full whiteout over the five days but the girls showed their mental strength and resilience to carry on and covered approximately 80 km including three peaks over 600m and a wild camp.
The scenery was stunning, the rain horizontal at times and the views from the top of Pen Y Fan totally worth the climb to 866m. Massive thank you to Mrs Sanders, Mr and Mrs Manners for organising this incredible experience. The range of emotion went from self-doubt to exhilaration, down to psychologically broken then up to the amazing buzz of overcoming fear and extreme physical effort/pain to succeed!
Thanks to all the parents for their emails and kind words. It is a pleasure to take such amazing young ladies out of their comfort zone and see how they cope, learn and grow as individuals and teams.
