Dance Show 2017 - the review
By Kavya Sharma, Senior Marketing Prefect and Emily Bench, PR Prefect
This year 253 students from years 7-13 took part in the annual dance show at Beaconsfield High School. After months of practice, the dancers performed on three nights to an audience of just under 400 people on a professional stage and set.
The Dance Show showcased the incredible talent of the dancers at our school through a range of different dance styles including contemporary, commercial, jazz and many more.
The dances were choreographed by Miss Lasocki, professional dance choreographers and a group of talented senior dancers - who have been running Y7, 8 and 9 dance clubs in the run up to the show. All of these dances brought about a different, exciting dimension to the show.
On the nights themselves, the shows were slick and professional as the senior prefect team were front of house ready to greet the audience, stage running to get each student onstage at the correct time, and looking after the students to ensure that they make the most out of their dance show experience.
The show was concluded, in a spectacular finale, to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Beaconsfield High School. The dance was performed by advanced dancers from across year 7 to year 13 to a variety of music from the last 50 years.
On the final night, the show started with an expertly choreographed Alumnae Dance, where dance students of the past came together to celebrate our wonderful dance department. As well as this, the winner of the House Dance Competition – Emily Cozens – had the opportunity to showcase her talent.
The School would like to thank all the dancers, the senior prefect team and of course Miss Lasocki for putting on such a fantastic show!
